Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing helps real estate professionals interrupt stereotypical thinking so they can avoid fair housing pitfalls and provide equal professional service to every customer or client. Participants will examine the history of bias in real estate, learn about the mind science of identity, study how implicit bias can result in fair housing violations, and engage in interactive exercises to enhance communication skills and business relationships with clients of all backgrounds.

Danette O'Neal

Dr. Danette O’Neal, Professor, Author-LEED educator, HGTV alumna, entrepreneur, and trainer is the Broker/Owner of Danette O’Neal Realtors (DOR) with offices in the Greater New Orleans and Atlanta Metro areas. A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, she holds a PhD in Public Policy and Administration, a Masters in Public Administration both from Walden University, and a M.A. in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University. 
O'Neal is a Professor and SME for Pearson VUE and Strayer University in the Business, Real Estate, and Public Administration Degree Programs. She is currently serving as the LA State President Liaison for the Women Council of Realtors (WCR), and serves on the housing Opportunity Committee for the National Association of Realtors; She sits on the Boards for Changing a Generation Ministries and the Women Council of Relators LA and volunteers as an interpreter for the deaf in the Full Gospel Baptist Church International Fellowship. 
Dr. O’Neal specializes in residential and commercial sales, property management and spiritual architecture. With now 31 years in real estate, she regularly lends her expertise to nonprofit organizations to expand their missions by lecturing on financial fitness, developing entrepreneurial training programs, and consulting for organizational leadership and sustainability. Her focus is on supporting small business growth through executive and business coaching, strategic planning and the facilitation of a range of leadership development programs.
