This safety course will help students recognize bad intentions without denial, empower themselves with the knowledge and tools to handle a crisis, to always be aware of surroundings and listen to their instincts. Students will learn about instincts, awareness, and danger signs to look for. This will give agents the ability to recognize and empower themselves to deal with a dangerous situation. This class will also teach students step-by-step safety measures for keeping themselves safe as well as giving them new protocols to use and bring back to their workplace. Students will learn a new protocol to drastically cut the likelihood of being a victim and best practices for safety while conducting an open house, working with vacant homes or inside of mode homes. It will also give students a plan and measures to deal with safety concerns. Lastly, the class will discuss different types of weapons agents may carry and the Georgia laws on them.

Debbie Kalish

Debbie Kalish is a career law enforcement officer with over 24 years of experience in the Metro Atlanta area. She has worked in a number of capacities during her career, the majority of which have been devoted to personal safety and crime prevention. As a detective, Debbie specialized in working cases involving crimes against women and children. As a school resource officer, she developed and implemented specialized training courses designed to teach students about cyber safety and personal safety. Finally, as a team leader in hostage negotiations, Debbie gained extensive experience diffusing incidents involving hostages, barricaded subjects and suicide threats. For the past 11 years, Debbie has created and overseen the Community Services Programs Division for the Johns Creek Police Department. Designing and implementing programs in Crime Prevention. Debbie’s true passion, however, is engaging women and teen girls through training courses that focus on personal safety and self-empowerment. This training program called READY – Women and Teen Safety & Self- Defense has taught to hundreds of women and teens. Debbie’s many courses include Cyber Safety, radKIDS, Active Shooter. Debbie holds certifications as a Defensive Tactics Instructor, ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) Instructor, FBI-LEEDA/Life Lock Identity Theft Instructor, PTSD Responding to Retuning Veterans Instructor, Emergency Medical Instructor, radKIDS Instructor, Georgia POST (Police Officer Standards and Training Council) Instructor, Crisis/Hostage negotiator, and CART (Child Abduction Response Team) CEPTED (Crime Preventions Through Environmental Design) and many more.
